Also known as leucine-enkephalin, it is one of the endogenous neuropeptide ligands of the Kappa and Mu opioid receptors. It is a pentapeptide (Tyr-Gly-Gly-Phe-Leu) produced from proteolitic processing of the precursor proenkephalin neuropeptide.
