Analytical technique used to separate, detect and quantitate molecules from complex mixtures. Liquid chromatography (LC) is initially used to separate the molecules from the complex mixture by their physico-chemical properties, and mass spectrometry (MS) is subsequently used to further separate the molecules found in the individual LC fractions by using differences in the mass-to-charge ratios.
